Why I don’t Plate White Gold

Did you know that the bright, silvery-white colour most people associate with white gold isn’t actually its natural shade? In fact, white gold has beautiful, warm undertones that are usually hidden beneath a layer of Rhodium plating.

Most jewellers plate white gold to achieve that “classic” look—but here’s the thing: rhodium plating wears off over time, meaning your jewellery will need regular re-plating to maintain its colour. That’s why I choose not to plate the white gold pieces I make. I want your jewellery to stay just as beautiful years from now as it is today, without the need for ongoing maintenance.

I also genuinely love the natural tones of white gold. There’s something so special about letting a metal shine in its true form - elegant and effortlessly timeless!

Below are some examples of natural white gold rings I have commissioned, you can really see the different colours and tones!

I’d love to know what you think, do you love white gold’s natural beauty as much as I do?
